AQF Explainer

Australian education is a world-leading brand, recognised for its quality and workplace applicability.

An Australian qualification is a global passport that opens up numerous career, life and further education opportunities.

Australian courses and qualifications can be undertaken from anywhere – students do not need to live in Australia to study an Australian course or achieve an Australian qualification.

Australian qualifications are regulated through the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). The AQF underpins all levels of training and education in Australia, from schooling, through to vocational education and higher education.

The main objectives of the AQF are to provide consistent quality in the levels of training; define what entities can deliver AQF qualifications; support training pathways to assist people move between training sectors; align training to labour market needs; and to support lifelong learning.

To get the most from an Australian course of study, it’s important you firstly understand the Australian education system.
